Pick Your Own Strawberries

PYO Strawberries on tabletops, under polytunnels for easy picking, rain or shine! Entry ticket only. All fruit picked will be charged by weight once picked.

We grow the Malling Centenary variety which are ready to harvest from mid-May until late August, although the season can often vary depending on the weather here in Kent.

To avoid disease and using unnecessary weed killers, our strawberries are positioned on tabletops to ensure the fruit is healthy as possible. It’ll also save your back from crouching over and make it a lot easier for you to pick but don’t worry, the fruit still hangs low enough for children to reach.

When choosing the strawberries you want to pick, you’ll need to make sure it has ripened all the way around otherwise you’ll end up with a green strawberry! And one of the most important things to remember is that for the perfect unblemished strawberry, you shouldn’t touch the fruit itself, simply grab the stalk between your thumb and forefinger, then twist and pinch. This avoids any bruising on the fruit and guarantees that you keep the ‘plug’ (calix) which ensures the fruit will stay fresh for as long as possible!

We love eating our strawberries fresh with cream and scones, baked into banana bread, frozen into sorbet or even thrown into a salad.

Did you know strawberries are the only fruit that wear their seeds on the outside?

Sorry, no tickets are currently on sale for this session.
